JOB DESCRIPTION – SAFETY EXECUTIVE

OVERALL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and ensure adherence to defined safe work processes and systems.
• Maintain and inspect fire extinguishers, fire hydrant systems, and fire alarms, including refilling and maintenance records.
• Organize and conduct safety training sessions to promote awareness of safety protocols.
• Coordinate, monitor, and ensure compliance with the work permit system.
• Prepare SOPs for the EHS department for various operational activities.
• Conduct and prepare safety patrols, audits, and gemba as per schedule.
• Conduct internal safety audits and follow up with concerned departments for action plans.
• Collaborate with departments to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct EHS events such as National Safety Week, Environment Day, and Fire Service Day/Week to engage employees.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
• Perform hazard identification and risk assessment and validate corrective actions taken.
• Ensure proper use and wearing of PPE by workers.
• Periodically inspect lifting tools, tackles, and related equipment and provide recommendations.
• Prepare ISO 45001:2018 audit documentation.
• Motivate employees to participate in safety initiatives and submit safety suggestions.
• Encourage employee involvement in safety programs.
• Recognize and reward individuals and teams contributing to workplace safety.
• Prepare monthly MIS and EHS reports.
• Maintain all first aid facilities.
• Ensure daily security activities and maintain records.
• Monitor and control CCTV systems and maintain incident records.
• Monitor and control traffic management systems.
• Implement health and safety guidelines for all stakeholders and employees.
• Develop Emergency Response Teams (ERT) and implement emergency response plans, including statutory and internal mock drills.
• Handle waste management and disposal processes.
• Ensure all safety-related documentation and permits are up to date and compliant with regulatory requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Education
• Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• B.Tech / B.E. in any specialization
• B.Sc in any specialization
• Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety from State Government

Experience
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in an industrial safety role

Knowledge and Skills

• Proficiency in safety auditing, inspection, and hazard identification.
• Strong knowledge of emergency response planning.
• In-depth understanding of safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Expertise in handling and maintaining safety equipment such as fire extinguishers and protective gear.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail with ability to enforce safety protocols.
• Knowledge of Indian safety laws and statutory requirements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
• Knowledge of sanitation regulations and safety standards.
• Proficiency in MS Office and relevant software.
• Willingness to work shifts as per operational requirements.
