Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer with strong hands-on experience in sheet metal MIG and TIG welding quality. The candidate will be responsible for in-process quality control, weld inspection, defect reduction, process monitoring, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities

Perform first-off, setup approval, patrol, in-process, and final inspections.

Ensure compliance with control plans, welding standards, work instructions, and customer requirements.

Monitor welding parameters such as current, voltage, wire feed rate, gas flow rate, travel speed, and heat input.

Verify compliance with approved WPS and welding process settings.
-
Inspect MIG/TIG weld joints and monitor defects such as porosity, lack of fusion, undercut, burn-through, cracks, spatter, and distortion.

Perform dimensional inspection using vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, weld gauges, profile projectors, and CMM.

Participate in root cause analysis using 5 Why, Why-Why, and Fishbone methods.

Support CAPA implementation and preparation of 8D reports.

Support visual inspection, dye penetrant testing, macro etching, and destructive testing.

Maintain welding quality and inspection records.

Support IATF 16949 compliance, internal audits, and layered process audits.

Support APQP, PPAP, welding trials, parameter validation, and capability studies.

Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Tool Room, Process Engineering, and NPD teams.

Support customer complaint investigations and supplier quality activities.

CMM and dimensional inspection

Candidate Profile
-
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in sheet metal welding quality

Hands-on exposure to MIG and TIG welding operations

Automotive or auto-component manufacturing experience preferred
